The little Weld County town of Cornish, 17 miles northeast of Greeley, held the first Stone Age Fair in 1934 at the Cornish School, to display the amazing array of Native American artifacts which had been exposed by the Dust Bowl extended drought of the early 1930's and collected by the area residents.
This Youth Engineering and Science Festival – YES!fest promised to be a fun and educational festival for the whole family. Booths and Exhibitors from across many engineering fields were on hand to provide hands-on activities for all age levels. Yes!fest sought to create a change of attitude towards engineering as a meaningful potential career option and emphasize its relevance in our everyday lives. The inaugural community engineering festival took place at the Greeley Recreation Center in down Greeley. Was it a success? You judge, there were over 500 attendees! A tremendous success for a first time event.
