The Hoyt Home Circle met on January 22, 2020 at the Hoyt Community Center. This meeting was hosted by Barb Chilcote. President Marilyn Musgrave welcomed everyone and thanked Barb for hosting the meeting. Marilyn led the Pledge of Allegiance and Donna Stahley led the club creed. Barb read cute jokes from Reader's Digest. The roll call of describing what each member has done for emergency preparedness was answered by 15 members. The adorable little Cinnamon was our special guest.

Several members had met at 9:00 a.m. that morning to work on the Hoyt community road signs project. A lot was accomplished but the project will be continued on February 8, 2020 with members meeting at the community center at 9:00 a.m. Participants should bring sack lunches.

The 2020 Hoyt Community Center Chili and Soup Supper was again discussed. Members will bring two or more items for the bake sale and/or bazaar. Marilyn will find out how many pies need to be brought for the supper. This supper is scheduled for Sunday, February 23, 2020, from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. (inclement weather date Sunday, March 1st from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m). The tickets for the Chili and Soup Supper are $6.00 for ages 13 years and older, $3.00 for ages 6 to 12 and free for children under 6 years of age. These tickets can be purchased from any community center member and at the door. Names and phone numbers need to be written on the on the back of the meal tickets to be entered to win any of the numerous wonderful door prizes donated by local business and individuals. Tickets will be drawn throughout the supper, but you will not need to be present to win. If you win but have already left the supper you will be contacted and arrangements made for you to get your prize. If you have purchased a meal ticket but unfortunately cannot attend (hope that doesn’t happen!!) just make sure you get the ticket to any Hoyt Community Center or Hoyt Home Circle member so it can be entered in the door prize drawings. This dinner, a community tradition, is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy delicious homemade chili and chicken noodle soup and a large variety of pies while visiting with friends and family who may live just down the road and those who travel great distances each year for this fun event. Continuing a many year tradition, two beautiful handmade quilts plus a machine-made lap robe, all made by Hoyt Home Circle members, will be given away in a drawing at the end of the Chili Supper. The chances for the quilts and lap robe are $1.00 each or six chances for $5.00 and can be purchased from any Hoyt Home Circle member and/or during the Chili and Soup Supper. Each ticket will be eligible for any of the quilts or lap robe. Name and phone number needs to be written on each ticket and you do not need to be present to win. Along with the quilt drawing there will be numerous baked goods and bazaar items provided by the Hoyt Home Circle members available for sale throughout the evening. Our cookbooks are for sale while supplies last and can be purchased anytime from any Home Circle member and will also be available at the Hoyt Chili and Soup Supper. The cookbooks are $10.00 each and contain 500 recipes submitted by people we all know and make wonderful gifts for birthdays, bridal showers, Christmas and just “thinking of you”.

The money received from the Chili and Soup Supper tickets will go towards upkeep and improvements of the Hoyt Community Center and the money received from the quilt drawing tickets and bazaar/baked goods sale will go towards the Hoyt Home Circle's many civic projects including a scholarship for a graduating Wiggins High School senior and donations to the Wiggins Community Church food bank, Wiggins Elementary School, the Preston Ranch and the Fort Morgan Humane Society, along with donations to local families in need. The Hoyt Community Center can be rented for a small fee for family reunions, birthday parties, baby showers, etc. by contacting Community Center President Steve Comer at 303-618-6382.

Community center members will meet at the hall on February 22, 2020 for cleaning and setup. Those who cannot meet that Saturday should make arrangements to go in earlier in the week to do some cleaning.

A motion was made and carried for Barb to purchase thread for the 2021 quilt during a trip to Branson, MO in the coming months.

Beautiful gifts were presented to the 2019 officers, President Marilyn Musgrave, Vice President Pam Bland, Treasurer Stacey Allen and Secretary Charlene Shaver.

The 2020 Hoyt Home Circle membership dues of $10.00 were collected from some members.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Rose Clement and the hostess gift was won by Ruth Anderson. Deb Mobley gave a very informative presentation on emergency preparedness while members enjoyed a delicious dessert prepared by Barb..

The next meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2020 at the Hoyt Community Center at 1:00 p.m. The hostess will be Robin Sorenson. The roll call will be a valentine gift exchange and a silver offering.
